The Civil Aviation School (SPOA) was founded in 1970 and has the following mission: To provide basic theoretical and practical training a) on general civil aviation issues to the personnel of the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and b) to the personnel responsible for the security of air transport against unlawful acts. It is also responsible for monitoring the practical training of students and trainees in the service. In addition, it grants certifications to firefighter drivers, to those providing security services to the police, to courthouses, to correctional institutions, etc.
